Collage KIT

A CUT AND PASTE ADVENTURE

WHAT IS A COLLAGE?

A collage is a picture made up of lots of different materials - photos, drawings, paper, text, and whatever else you can find and glue down!

WHY MAKE A COLLAGE?

Combining images to create a new image can be a fun playful way to make art. Your collage might make a picture, or it might just abstract thinking about how shapes, colors and textures work together.

Maybe it will tell a story, make a joke, express an idea, or make people think, look beautiful, look weird, look scary, be a person, or a monster, or a machine.

HOW TO GET STARTED….

There is no right or wrong way to make a collage or any art - so sometimes that makes it hard to get started.

*Try finding a picture you really like, or something that catches your eye. Cut it out and place it on your page. Now - can you find something that if it went next to it - it would make you laugh? wouldn’t make sense? Or maybe makes perfect sense!?

OR

*Try picking a piece of paper that has a colors, texture, or shape that you like - then build off of it thinking about how you create shape, movement, or patterns.
