ABOUT
SILVER CITY NEIGHBORHOOD
A.I.R.
A.I.R. Stands for Artist In Residence. Starting in the spring of 2020 Artists Working in Education (AWE) are launching a new Silver City branch of their artist in residence programs. Modeled after the successful Mitchell St. Library A.I.R. program, their goal is to give community members ways to creatively engage with their neighborhoods, neighbors, and share culture.
Sarah Gail Luther - the Artist In Residence in the Silver City, Burnham Park, and Layton Park neighborhood in 2020 - works in Milwaukee as a public artist. Her materials and mediums are always changing, but her art always has the aim to create opportunities to experience something new or see something with fresh eyes.
Sarah hopes the Silver City Neighborhood A.I.R. is an instigator for people in the neighborhood to congregate, share skills, and explore their neighborhood in new ways.

WALKING ALGORITHM for Considering Public Space:
1. Click on the gallery and page through the prompts. When it says walk - start walking.
2. As you walk keep paging through & using the prompts to guide your observations
3. When you've returned to the first prompt start the cycle of prompts over again in your new location - keep going.
*Let the questions compile & stew - don't feel like you need to have an exact answer for each one.
*Note which questions really resonate with you, or get your gears turning.
*Consider how your personal relationship to the space changes as you move further away from your house.
*Jot down questions you have along the way or things you'd like to know more about.
